What a wonderful week of London meetings . It started with Bioseed . An interesting meeting where Biotech companies pitch for 10minutes on their technology and how much money they want to raise . Interesting how many pitches were difficult to understand and most likely undersold what the company and entrepreneur had . A quick taxi ride away was the next meeting Biotech and money much more fancy . A more platform feel with more mature companies pitching for 20 minutes . A good atmosphere , all sorts of people different from bioseed which seemed to have more angels and hidden private equity people . Biotech and money is professionalising the networking ,not a bad gig and piggy backing on the conservative city centric jefferies meetings which again represents a gathering .
On the other side of London another virtual world was found In pharma integrates . A mixture of pharma service providers and pharma companies Provided a different type of person to meet . Having the great Franz humer ex Roche chairman was a real bonus .
The final gig was a blast . The all women biobeats meeting at the Francis crick was excellent . Not only for the content but for the youthful energy . More entrepreneurs , post grads and science students under 30 gave a real buzz . The price point of £35 quid also helped to bring in the up and coming .
For me it was a fantastic week of contrasts . From the old to the new guard . I still see the need to build more of a life science community perhaps the Biotech buddies format launching next month will do it ………
